You don't need to bring your own model or API key. Model capabilities are provided jointly by Tianyi Jiye and partnered service providers; we handle the integration, scheduling, and reliability for you. TailOS works out of the box — you don't need to worry about which model is running under the hood, or about key leaks and quota fluctuations on your side. Enterprise customers with special compliance needs can also request custom model integrations.

Skills are only one part of TailOS's capability stack. Beyond Skills, TailOS ships with a native Agent engine, cross-channel coordination, long-term memory, scheduled tasks, and structured visual expression — together they form a full workbench rather than just a plugin set. You can install Skills from the official store, and you can also publish your own Skills so your team can reuse them.

Long-term memory captures information that stays useful over time (preferences, project context, reusable templates), while scheduled tasks let recurring work run on a schedule (weekly digests, daily reports). Configuration and records for both live in your local environment and are not sent out by default. You can view, edit, or delete any memory entry at any time, and pause or disable any scheduled task — the boundary stays in your hands.

This is TailOS's proprietary next-generation conversational expression system, which lets structured information, visual charts, and interactive components appear natively inside a conversation. Compared with traditional chat tools that can only emit text, this lets you complete the full loop of 'understand — express structurally — act further' within a single workflow, without copying results into other tools.

Model calls and some Skills require connectivity, so the full experience needs a stable network. That said, your local settings, long-term memory, conversation history, and loaded Skills are stored locally — so even when you're temporarily offline you can still review past conversations, organize local materials, and prepare upcoming tasks, picking up again once the network is back.

TailOS automatically checks for and downloads new versions quietly in the background. Once a new version is ready, you'll just see a prompt saying 'ready to restart' — when to restart, and whether to apply the update immediately, is entirely up to you. Updates won't interrupt ongoing conversations, task flows, or scheduled jobs. Every update ships with a detailed changelog so you always know what's new.
